Making these edible fairy wands with my daughter was so much fun! We used them for a fun snack but they would be great for a fairy or princess themed birthday party or a tea party. They are so simple to make.

These edible fairy wands make such a cute snack for birthday parties, tea parties or just to add a bit of magic into an ordinary day. This is a great recipe for kids to prepare themselves or cook with you. They only require 3 ingredients and a few minutes to bake.

Edible Fairy Wands Recipe:

4 flour tortillas
2 Tbsp. butter
edible sparkling sugar in several colours

Preheat the oven to 375°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use a stoneware baking sheet that the edible fairy wands won’t stick to.

Cut the flour tortillas into strips that are about 3/4 inch wide, alternating with a wider end and narrower end so that they are shaped like fairy wands. If a child is doing this step, it is safer for them to cut the strips using a pair of kitchen scissors than to use a knife sharp enough to slice through the tortillas.

Place the tortilla strips on the baking sheet and bake for 2 minutes on each side. Your child may need adult help to flip them over.

Melt the butter in the microwave while the tortilla strips are baking.

Lightly coat each of the edible fairy wands with the melted butter using a pastry brush and immediately sprinkle with the sparkling sugar. This step is especially fun and even young kids can be included in this part of the process.

Edible Fairy Wands squareThe fairy wands are now ready for eating. We served ours with tea in our good tea cups for a special treat. My girls thought this was the best snack ever! I know it’s not the healthiest snack, but when you make something yourself, you know exactly how much sugar is in it (or in this case, on it) unlike buying packaged snacks.

Edible Fairy WandsThis simple recipe can infuse a little bit of magic into an otherwise ordinary day. You could read your kids books about fairies or princesses while they enjoy their special snack.

We make similar treats in our house, although with two boys, they are Light Sabers rather than fairy wands 😉 Thought I would share another easy easy way for kids to help cut – we use a pizza cutter. Easy peasy – and that’s actually what I use too because it is so darn quick! Love the fairy wands and will definitely use that idea the next time my niece visits 🙂
