These Peppermint Bark Christmas Oreos are an easy-to-make holiday treat that will quickly become a family favourite. Because who doesn’t like Oreos?! And for the gluten-free in your family, these can easily be made with a gluten free version of the cookie. There are several varieties available in stores. (These are the ones we usually buy.)

Peppermint Bark Oreo Cookies (includes instructions for a gluten free version as well)These Christmas cookies are so easy to make and are a lot of fun for kids to help with. We never use store bought crushed peppermint for recipes like this because my kids love to use a mortar and pestle to crush up candy canes. It’s their favourite part of the process!

I love recipes that are able to involve the whole family in the process. These Christmas Oreo cookies do exactly that. Turn the house into a festive affair by putting on the Christmas music and whipping up these easy holiday treats.

Peppermint Bark Christmas Oreos Recipe:

  • one package of Oreo cookies or a gluten free alternative
  • 12 oz. package of white candy melts
  • bag crushed peppermint candy or you can crush peppermint candies or candy canes to make your own

Christmas Peppermint Bark OreosMelt the candy melts. You can do this in a double broiler or in the microwave on power level 3. It is important not to melt the candy melts in the microwave on full power or they will burn or be lumpy. No one wants lumpy candy melts!

Dip an Oreo cookie (or gluten free option if you are wanting these to be gluten free) into the melted candy melts so that it is at least half covered and place the cookie onto a sheet of wax paper.

Sprinkle the crushed peppermint candy onto the dipped part of the cookie. Repeat the process with the rest of the cookies.

Allow the cookies to harden completely before moving them off the wax paper. This should take about half an hour.

Peppermint Bark OreosThese easy Christmas cookies make great gifts and they are always a welcome addition to any holiday event. Being able to make them gluten free opens up even further the list of people you can gift these to. These Peppermint Christmas Oreo cookies are a perfect gift for neighbours, teachers, friends, and to bring for hostesses. You can easily package them nicely by wrapping them in brown craft paper or stack them in an empty Pringles container that you wrap in holiday paper. Top with ribbon and you’re done!
